On Wednesday, I received a box of some of the most fabulous cookies I’ve ever tasted. EVER.

My neighbor, Lisa, and her sister, Michelle, have started a cookie business with their family’s top-secret cookie recipe and, after tasting the finished product, I’m convinced they’re sitting on a gold mine.

Seriously. These cookies are AMAZING. They’re oh-so-soft and perfectly sweet.

Of course, the box above started out with a dozen cookies. Trav, Arle, and I attacked it before I thought to take pics.

We each loved every single bite. I even loved the icing, and I pretty much NEVER like icing. I actually scraped the icing off of my first cookie, just out of habit.

But then, I could still taste the little bit of icing that didn’t come all the way off. I then dipped my finger in the pile of icing that I scraped off. Then I put the icing back on the cookie, because it was JUST THAT GOOD. I’m tellin’ you, folks, these cookies are DELISH.

So DELISH that I feel the need to write lots of words in ALL CAPS just to get my point across.

And let’s just talk about the name of their operation for a sec. Um, Honey???? How stinkin’ CUTE is that?

And the packaging? Yes, please.

They are starting out by only doing holiday orders and are currently taking orders for Valentine’s Day. They will only be taking the first 70 customers, so contact them ASAP if you want in on the sugary goodness. The cost is $18/dozen and is worth each and every cent.

Honey’s email address is honeycookiekc@gmail.com.

Tell ‘em Momdiggity sent ya ;)

Let me start off by saying I definitely DO NOT consider myself a “Culinary Queen.” Far from it, actually. But, as a woman who loves to cook and entertain, this list is chock full of things I would love to find in my stocking.

Most of the items are a bit pricier than some of my previous suggestions, but would make great additions to some of the less expensive things on the girlie-girl list.

Placecard Holders – How stinkin’ adorable are these, although I probably wouldn’t actually use them as placecard holders. I just don’t throw dinner parties fancy enough for such a novelty. Instead, I would use them to identify dishes at a party. That way, guests won’t have to constantly ask, “What’s this”? How cute would these have been at the shower my friends and I hosted a few weeks ago???

Strainer-Sifter – There have been many moments in the kitchen when I’ve wished I had one of these little guys.

Taste-Test Recipe Book – I discovered this beauty (and fell head-over-heels-in-love) while reading one of Jami’s entries, (an absolutely hilarious list of gifts for men to buy their ladies). This has to be the cutest recipe book EVER. It’s a bit pricey at $28, so it would probably not fall into the stocking stuffer category, but I couldn’t resist putting it on the list.

Because I can’t think of anything better to write about today, I decided I would share my top 10 must-have beauty products with you. These are the products that have been with me for years. The tried and true. The ones that send me into convulsions if I find myself without them. The ones that make me feel a little less blotchy and puffy, a little more glowy and smooth.

1. Rosebud Strawberry Lip Balm – I have tins of this miracle balm stashed everywhere. Purses, kitchen cabinet, bedside table, makeup bag, etc. I’ve been using it for five years and haven’t had dry lips since. Every night when Trav and I get in bed, he automatically gets it out of the drawer and opens it up so I can get one last hit for the day. He’ll totally be embarrassed that I told you this, but he even uses a little dab every night….shhhhhh, don’t tell.

2. Bobbi Brown Oil-Free Even Finish Compact Foundation – This makeup (or “make-muck” as Arle calls it), is the best foundation EVER. Bobbi understands the plight of those of us with yellow undertones and her make-muck saves the day. No more “pink-face, yellow-neck syndrome” for me. I apply it with her fantastic Foundation Brush for an easy-breezy complexion boost.

3. Bobbi Brown Face Powder (in Pale Yellow) – What good would it do for me to go over my yellow-undertone foundation with a pink-undertone powder? Enter Bobbi Brown. Again, she comes to the rescue with a loose powder that matches my skin to perfection. One tub of this stuff lasts me almost a year and is worth every penny.

4. St. Ives Blemish & Blackhead Control Apricot Scrub – I know, I know, many magazines bash this scrub for being too harsh, but I’m convinced that they just want us all to go out and spend a lot of $$$ on other scrubs. For me, St. Ives works. Plain and simple.

5. Roc Retinol Correxion Eye Cream – I’ve used this for a few years now. I started using it because I wanted to prevent eye wrinkles. It seems to be working…or maybe I just haven’t reached the eye-wrinkle age, yet. Who knows, but I’ll keep using it as long as I am eye-wrinkle-free. If only I had taken preventative measures for my forehead wrinkles…

6. Aveda Confixor Liquid Gel – Whether I’m wearing my hair straight or curly, Confixor is always there to help me achieve the perfect coiffe. It’s super light-weight and smells fab.

7. Nivea Skin Firming Moisturizer Q10 Plus – Love, love, love this lotion. The smell, the texture, the everything.

8. Bliss Clog Dissolving Cleansing Milk – This stuff is fab for taking off your make-muck at the end of the day. And, as an added bonus, it actually exfoliates at the same time. A little goes a long way, so one bottle of this miracle cleanser will last a few months. P.S. If you ever have a chance to actually go to a Bliss Spa, DO IT. You won’t regret it. They know how to pamper a girl.

9. Marilyn Volumizing Brush – This is truly a wonder brush. It turns my curly locks into a smooth, straight ‘do in no time.

10. Jergens Natural Glow Moisturizer – While I can’t say this product is fun to use, I will say it’s one that I always have on hand. Whenever I’m feelin’ a bit pasty and don’t have time to make a visit to the Tan Van, I can always pull this out and feel like I have at least a hint of color.

Now it’s your turn. What is your can’t-do-without beauty product? Do tell…

I recently added another item to my “Favorite Baby Products” list. I’m officially obsessed with BabyLegs. I’ve seen these around for awhile, but never purchased a pair. I finally bought some a few weeks ago and Arle and I both love them! They’re basically leg-warmers for kids and can also be used on arms, but there are SOO many other perks to owning a pair of these cutie-patootie knit wonders. Last winter I always hesitated to put dresses or skirts on Arle because it’s so cold here and tights were a pain…always sagging and such a pain when it was diaper change time. Never fear, BabyLegs are here! They only go from the ankle to the upper thigh, so diaper changes are a breeze. Another great thing is that the same pair fits infants and toddlers. They’re cute and scrunchy on itty-bitty babies and just grow as the child grows. They have lots of great colors and prints for boys and girls. They look adorable on little boys under short-sleeve t-shirts. Here’s a pic of Arle in her striped pair:

Ever since I entered the blogging world, I’ve been on a constant hunt for other blogs that inspire and entertain me. A friend of mine led me to this blog (a great blog, but I’m not really into the whole scrapbooking bit), which in turn led me to this blog. I’m obsessed. First of all, she has a fantastic name, but really it could be “Frank” for all I care, her creations are the main object of my affection. This girl is amazing! She comes up with some of the most creative things I’ve EVER seen (although, her trash tie hair things have me a bit perplexed-I just don’t understand them). She even designs her own line of fabric AND paper – all while being a mother of two and a wife! SHE’S MY HERO!

I’ve decided this – when Arle is ready for a “big girl bed” I want her room to look exactly like this photo. I love the bedding. I love the clock. I love the mirror. I love the stack of books. I love the chandelier reflected in the mirror. I love it all!

Just looking at her adorable pin cushions makes me want to start sewing again. Who needs a dumb, ugly tomato when you can have a fabulous, funky apple, strawberry, or pear???

Click here to take a look at her store and check out her gorgeous fabrics and papers. Just looking at all the bright, cheery colors and patterns makes my mouth water.

If you’re expecting a little one or needing to purchase a gift for someone, you can’t go wrong with these fabulous blankets. They have lots of new prints and even a line of organics for all of you “green” moms out there.

As a follow-up to yesterday’s entry, I thought I would let you in on my favorite baby shoe picks.

Pedipeds

My favorite pre-walker shoe is made by Pediped. They were the only shoes that never fell off, despite all of the kicking Arle did in her carseat or while laying on the floor. They come in lots of cute colors and are supposedly the next best thing to being barefoot. They also have styles for walkers that have rubber soles and are adorable. Nana bought this oh-so-cute navy suede pair for Arle to wear this fall.

See Kai Run

Another brand that I love is See Kai Run. Arle wore these all through the spring and summer and they also stayed on very well. They were great as she started walking because they have a rubber sole. I’ve been eyeing these pink boots at a nearby boutique and am thinking I might sneak them onto her Santa list.

Trumpette

Last, but not least, I couldn’t write this entry without mentioning Arle’s hot pink patent leather driving mocs…something I think all girls (young and old) should have in their closet. My mother bought these for her and they received rave reviews everywhere we went. They are by Trumpette. Again, these stayed on really well, but I have a feeling this is mostly because she wore them in the summer without socks and, therefore, I give her sweaty, sticky feet most of the credit for the shoes staying put. I think she should have the silver pair next, don’t you agree??

I’ve entered into the stage of life where the majority of my friends have entered, or are about to enter, into motherhood. Many of my friends who are getting ready to have their first child, are always asking what products I loved the most and couldn’t have lived without. After much thought, I have decided on my numero uno baby product, the one that I cherished, the one that I was so grateful for time and time again, the one that people stopped me on the street to ooohhh and ahhhhh over, the one that I stinkin’ left on the beach in Oregon and could kick myself for losing…the Peanut Shell. It’s a baby sling that is as fashionable as it is functional. It is extremely comfortable for mommy and baby and can be used in many different ways as your baby grows. Before your little one can hold her head up, you simply lay her in it cradle-style. Once she can hold her head up, you can sit her in it with her feet indian-style so she can look out and see the world. Once she can hold her body up, you can put her on your side, similar to sitting on your hip, but while still having both hands free. (I will also mention that it also has a back carry option, but seriously, who can get a baby back there???? I’m certainly not that coordinated.) It’s great at the grocery store or while just trying to get some things done around the house. The place that it is absolutely the MOST valuable is the airport. Arle has been quite the traveler and the sling has made going through security a breeze. I will say that I began using mine when Arle was about a week old, so she got used to it early on. I’ve heard that it’s harder to get babies to feel comfortable in it if they’re older. It feels a bit awkward at first, but that quickly subsides once you realize how much freedom it gives you. They come in great colors and prints and some are even reversible! Take my word for it…buy one. You won’t be sorry.
