Evidently I’ve forgotten that I have a blog. The craziness of the holidays took over my life and the last thing I had time to do (or, if I’m honest, wanted to do) was sit in front of my computer.
This Christmas was oh so much fun. How could it not be, with a sassy three-year-old by my side? Each and every year it’s more and more fun.  Arle soaks in every bit of the season that she possible can.
Unfortunately that means she fell head first into the whole “I want THAT for Christmas” bit. Every single toy that crossed her path in November and December was met with her desire to have it for her very own.
One night I told Trav that I wished that she would just settle on one thing that she REALLY wanted Santa to bring her on Christmas morning.
Evidently she was eavesdropping on that conversation because she almost immediately began saying over and over again that all she reeeeeeaaaaallllllly wanted from Santa was, get this, a “Snuggly Princess Elmo doll.”
Say what?
With all the toys she could pick from she wants a Snuggly Princess Elmo doll? Good grief.
First of all, I hate “character” things. Second of all, does Snuggly Princess Elmo even exist?
I was pretty sure he didn’t, but I went ahead and Googled it. Nada.
One day I asked her if she had ever seen a Snuggly Princess Elmo. She said, “Nope. I just made him up in my mind.”
Great.
I replied with, “What if Santa can’t find a Snuggly Princess Elmo?”
She replied in her mommy-you’re-a-moron voice with, “Uh, his elves will just make it, Mommy.”
This is the moment I was tempted to expose Santa and his stupid ficticious elves, but I just didn’t have the heart to go through with it.
So, I ordered an Elmo doll on Amazon.
Then I purchased a bunch of gaudy princess stuff.
Then I spent Christmas Eve turning an innocent Elmo doll into a drag queen.
Oh yes I did.
She was thrilled to see that dear ol’ Santa and his trusty elves came through for her.
Snuggly Princess Elmo was all dolled up with a “Princess” tiara (that Santa sewed on his head), a boa (that Santa cut down to Elmo’s size and gave the rest to Arle so they could match), a pink glitter scepter, and a fabulous, sparkly evening bag that Arle immediately stole from Snuggly Princess Elmo and claimed as her own.
Oh, and Elmo has been given exclusive rights to the doll seat on the back of Arle’s new bike that Santa left her.

Snuggly Princess Elmo is brilliant….and straight from
Santa’s heart. You may have set a dangerous precedent.
What next?
