Despite the fact that Arle’s been potty-trained for a year and a half, I still help with pulling her pants down, wiping, making sure she flushes and washes her hands, and all that jazz.
It’s ridiculous, really. Why am I doing all of this? Yes, it’s faster. Yes, it’s less messy. Yes, I’m a germ-a-phobe and can’t deal with the way she gropes the toilet when going by herself.
But she’s three-years-old and I need to let go
Last week I decided I am done. She’s starting pre-school in a month and a half and needs to be able to do this.
Alone.
It’s a good thing I realized all of this when I did because it looks like we’re going to need some serious practice.
It sure will be difficult to make friends at pre-school with used TP hanging out of shorts that are pulled up to her boobies.

So funny you posted this because we’re having the same issues around here. Haydon still has problems aiming and we still have to help him sometimes. We went to pick him up from the church nursery last week and the attendant told us that he sprayed the whole bathroom wall and told them that they needed to help him point his “tail.”
I think it was their nice way of saying, “Teach your kid to aim!” Talk about mortifying!

Are you kidding me?!? She will be able to make friends where ever she goes no matter how she is put together! By the way, I sure am glad momdiggity is back.

Oh I have the same problem with Eli! When he first started potty-training, he wanted to do it all by himslef. I just could not let him, for all of the reason you noted! Now, I can’t bribe the kid to go without be being there. Geesh!

I say the little smart thing is ahead of us! She is already ready for the next “time” like a scout- “prepared”! The Green peeps love her as well as all the tree huggers! She is an environmentalist’s dream. Saving at least one tree! I love this girl! She is squeezable just like her Charmin!
