Thanksgivmas 2009 has come and gone. Hard to believe, but it’s true. My mother, dad, younger brother, and sister all made the trek to KC for the big event and we all had a fabulous time and ate WAY too much.
As we were opening our Thanksgivmas gifts Saturday morning, Arle was absolutely thrilled when she opened up a gift from my parents that she had been dreaming of for months.
Last year for Christmas, she received this Corolle doll from Santa and we named her “Baby Emma.”
A couple months ago, we received a toy catalog in the mail. Within its pages, Arle spotted this doll and gasped, “Mommy! Look! It’s Sleepy Baby Emma!!!!” She was absolutely giddy.
Ever since that day, she’s been asking for Sleepy Baby Emma. I told her she should ask Santa for Sleepy Baby Emma.
One day, my mom was talking to Arle on the phone and asked what she wanted for Christmas. She promptly replied, “Sleepy Baby Emma,” and Nana immediately ordered the doll.
When Arle opened the package she was in heaven. She yelled, “Sleepy Baby Emma! Did Santa bring her????” We explained that she was from Nana and Lebo and that she could now ask Santa for something else.
Later that day, I was sitting and talking to her while she was takin’ care of business in the bathroom. I asked her what she was going to ask Santa for now that she already has Sleepy Baby Emma.
Her answer sent shivers down my spine. It was the moment I’ve been dreading.
“A dog!”
Great. Just great.
Any of you who know me or have been reading this blog for long, know that I’m absolutely terrified of dogs. I have always said I WILL NOT ever own a dog. It’s just not gonna happen. No way. No how.
Now I just have to figure out a way to break this news to my two-year-old.

I knew this day would come. We’ll see how long you can hold out. They do have those creepy new toy robot dogs. Not the old school ones but ones that are actually furry and cuddly.

Awwww…come on! Buy your precious angel a sweet little puppy! Don’t you want her to be happy? It’ll grow on you. I promise. Is any of this working yet?
We have to buy one for Xmas to replace the bad choice of a dog we got this summer then had to “find a new home,” A.K.A. she ran away and we never went looking for her!
P.S.- I have known you and your disdain for dogs all your life so I am not holding out any hope that you will fold under the pressure. Perhaps Arle will get farther than I ever did.

I think we may need to have a poll to see who can guess how long it takes for you to cave! I said Cammie would never have an inside cat and guess what still lives with Lu and me? I’m sure Arle is good in the power to persuade area! They really don’t bite Heather!!

That’s not true, Rhonda. They DO bite. I’ve known many victims. Even witnessed it first hand when Suzanne was bitten when we were kids.

Bet you just can’t wait to come see Bailey at Christmas ;) Bailey has already been warned that she will be spending lots of hours behind her gate while we have company – we’ll keep you both safe and relaxed that way. I can’t wait….so excited!
