I’ve come up with another one of my crazy ideas.
I want to turn our basement into an art “studio.”
Lofty ambition, I know. Trav is shakin’ in his boots fancy Cole-Haan loafers. He always gets kind of nervous when I come up with these kinds of things. I guess I can understand his angst on this one, though, because this is what our basement currently looks like.

Welcome to our dark side. It’s gross. It’s dingy. It’s really, really creepy.
In my wacky little opinion, it’s also chock-full of potential.
I just think it would be so fabulous to have an area that would store all of our artsy-fartsy stuff and where we don’t mind kiddos spilling glitter, glue, paint, and such all around. Our basement is the perfect place for this. It’s unfinished and just begging for a little bit o’ TLC.
I’ve always enjoyed crafty stuff. Arle loves it too (we actually just returned from a Gymboree art class, or “heart” class as Arle calls it).
I can just see it now.
I’ll paint it a light color in order to lessen the dungeon-like-feeling of its current state.
I’ll have new lighting installed.
I’ll figure out who in the heck you call in order to properly dispose of the loads of paint our previous home-owner so kindly left on our hands.
I’ll re-locate (or trash) much of the junk that currently resides down there. (Side-note: Don’t worry, Brad and Bekka, we won’t trash any of the items you’re storing down there while you’re living it up in NYC for the year. Brats).
I’ll make big, cutesy inspiration boards to hang all over the walls that will hold all of the magazine clippings I’m always ripping out. Arle will even have her own inspiration board.
I’ll stock it with all sorts of supplies just like this site suggests.
Then, once all the work is complete, I’ll invite all sorts of kiddos and mommies over to join in on our crafting fun.
My goal is to have this open for “business” by the time Mr. Colder-Than-Cold-Winter rolls around.
Hey, hey, whadya, say, Trav???? If you love me, you’ll do it. :)

Bradley made Sawyer an art table (of course he and Cammie are awesome at coming up with ideas) and then they got those medal lids from 5 gallon buckets – the ones with the little tabs, painted them red, and hung them in their hall to display Sawyer’s are with magnets. Cute, Cute, Cute! She’ll have to take a picture because I am not good at explaining! Come on Trav – let the artist or artists begin!!!

so fun! save all your spaghetti and jelly jars, they are great for storing paintbrushes, markers, and, well, everything else in the world.
