Today’s the day.
The day I take the walk of shame.
The day I’ve been dreading.
The day I haven’t done a darn thing to prepare for. Unless you count having a garage sale in order to buy a suit that will hide a few of my many flaws. Now that I think about it, I should have bought a full-length wetsuit. Does Nordstrom sell wetsuits? They should. They really, really should.
My, oh my, how I’m NOT looking forward to this.
But it’s going to be 94 degrees today.
With a dew-point of 71. Whatever that means. Trav’s a weather dork and tried to explain it to me. After he droned on and on about this having to do with that, I simply looked at him and said, “That means nothing to me.” He rolled his eyes.
All I know is that it’s going to be ridiculously humid, which will turn a 94 degree day into a 100+ degree day. After 13 years of living in humidity, I still get pretty whiny this time of year and long for the dry-heat of my native New Mexico.
What’s a girl to do? She swallows her pride and goes to the pool, that’s what she does. At least I’ll be accompanied by a cutie-patootie 2-year-old that will hopefully distract everyone from my thighs. Wait a minute…her cutie-patootie head is level with my thighs. I’m toast.
If you see me at the pool today, please don’t look at my thighs. I beg you.

I’m totally feeling for you! If we didn’t have our own pool my children would never get to go swimming! I’m sure you look great in your new suit, though! Just remember you are not alone because every other mother at the pool is probably feeling the exact same way you do!

i’ve been wondering if it would be acceptable to wear some cute leggings under my swimsuit bottoms? a kind of 80′s workout look at the pool? what do you think?!? can you start that trend for all of us?
